Earn your Certification The Board of Medical Specialty Coding and Compliance is the provider of specialty medical coding certification, education and training for medical coders, clinicians and compliance professionals. BMSC is dedicated to creating and advocating a career ladder for medical professionals through multiple layers of coding and compliance education. DecisionHealth allows recertification for current specialty medical certification holders. Testing for new candidates is not available. Certification holders can keep compliant through recertification and obtaining Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

Specialty Coding Professional (SCP):

To maintain your certification as a Specialty Coding Professional, BMSC requires that you complete 20 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) every year. Your completed Application for Recertification with all required documentation of your continuing education efforts is due with payment of $149.00 to BMSC on or before the anniversary of your certification (your certification date listed on your certificate).

Advanced Coding Specialist (ACS):

To maintain your certification as an Advanced Coding Specialist, BMSC requires that you complete 20 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) every year. Your completed Application for Recertification with all required documentation of your continuing education efforts is due with payment of $229.00 to BMSC on or before the anniversary of your certification (your certification date listed on your certificate).

Certified Compliance Professional – Physician (CCP-P):

To maintain your certification as a Certified Compliance Professional - Physician, BMSC requires that you complete 20 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) every year. Your completed Application for Recertification with all required documentation of your continuing education efforts is due with payment of $149.00 to BMSC on or before the anniversary of your certification (your certification date listed on your certificate).

*Any recertifications submitted within 90 days after the credential expires will be subject to a 15% late fee. Note that 90 days after a credential expires, it will be revoked and cannot be recertified without BMSC’s review and approval. Do not submit CEUs to BMSC as you earn them. Your application for recertification, CEUs and/or supporting documentation, and payment should be sent together before your certification expiration date.
